This website for Family Eye Care of Apex, an Apex, North Carolina eye care practice, so that it would be clear, simple and easy to navigate for patients who need to get information about various eye conditions, make appointments, order contacts and frames on-line, and fill out patient forms. The site was designed along with a variety of other compatible media, including print ads, web banner ads, brochures, flyers, coupons, business cards/appointment cards, and other media.

The organizers of this website for annual exhibits of Christmas nativity scenes wanted an easier way to collect information from the hundreds of volunteers who loan nativity scenes and help with the event. We created this robust website, which includes a comprehensive sign-up form that enables volunteers to sign up for a variety of tasks at once. The information is collected internally in sortable spreadsheet reports that enable committee organizers to track and organize the volunteers. Both volunteers and organizers get e-mail notifications when a sign-up is done. The website also has an on-line e-mail invitation for people to send to friends, google location information, a calendar for music events, photo galleries, and a press page on which news reporters can download press photos of the event. Non-technical volunteers can upload content and photos onto various pages of the website. The site currently services five nativity events in several states. It had 20,000 page hits in 41 states, Canada and Latin America in December 2010.

We specialize in elegant ads targeted toward particular audiences that use colorful, informative photography, punchy headlines and readable typography. We design ads that are consistent with business goals and fit into companies’ overall brand identity as well as meeting short-term goals.

The logo on the left is for Stock Market CPR, a Raleigh, North Carolina, company that produces on-line tutorials on how to trade stocks. The company’s mission is to help people who have been negatively impacted by falls in the stock market learn how to trade safely and make a reasonable profit. The logo, in the signature red and green colors of the stock market, reflects both a CPR chart and an upswing in the market.

The logo on the right is that of Money for Regular People, an on-line financial management information site. The sword and shield symbolize the protective actions that people can take to preserve and enhance their financial assets.

We created this brochure for Family Eye Care of Apex, an Apex, North Carolina, eye care company. We also did the photography for this publication.

This card for Tri-Bio Ventures, a consulting company in the Research Triangle Park area near Raleigh, North Carolina, was designed for its owner to present at business conferences and other venues. Its back side includes a mini-resume which enables the recipient to quickly learn about Tri-bio Venture’s services and skills. Tri-Bio Ventures’ website, which we also designed, provides a more detailed description of the services outlined on the card.

This page is an example from one of our books, Silenced Scream: A Visual History of the 1989 Tiananmen Protests. The book included hundreds of photographs of the Tiananmen democracy demonstrations in Beijing, China, which we researched, edited, organized and laid out. This is one of a number of full-color illustrated history books that we have produced for organizations and individuals.
We have produced books on the environment, family histories, the Civil War, China, World War II, the Great Depression and are currently in production on several others, including an art book, a cookbook, and a book on Beijing, China.
We provide all or part of the work involved in the research, writing, editing and design of books, e-books, interactive PDFs and other similar documents, including arranging with a book printer for the printing. The printing cost is in addition to our production fee and is dependent on what a chosen printer charges.

Every once upon a time, amid the busy, efficient world of business, we get a chance to take a fun flight into sheer fantasy when we get approached by a client who is interested in us doing a whimsical design for entertainment purposes. In these cases, we:

• Then we let our imaginations take over and have fun with golden swords, magical old books and journeys to distant lands and times.

We designed this Expression Engine website for J. Lloyd Morgan, an author of young adult fantasy books. Its old-style script, parchment background, magical glowing book and sword pull readers into the world of castles and queens that the author brings to life. At the same time, the underlying design of the website enables him to add content and provides for easy visual adaptation and expansion as he adds new books.
